Worker Welfare Board

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Worker Welfare Board is Statutory Body established under Section 11-A of the Worker Welfare Fund Ordinance 1971 functioning under the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (HRD) Islamabad in order to provide residential and educational facilities as well as other welfare measures including Jahez Fund for the marriage of the daughters of workers, merit scholarships to deserving children of industrial labor, distribution of sewing machines and bicycles. The Board is managed by nine members comprises of official member, employers and employees/workers representatives headed by Secretary Labor, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as Chairman of the Board.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Workers Welfare Board is mainly responsible for provision of housing, education, health and other welfare facilities to the workers and their families. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa , Workers Welfare Board constructed Residential Colonies, Schools, Technical & Vocational Institutes, Community Centers, Medicare Centers, Hospitals and provided Other Welfare Measures i.e. Marriage Grant, Death Grant and Scholarships for Industrial & Mine workers and their children. Its main sources of income includes onetime initial seed money of Rs. 100 million by the Federal Government contribution at 2% by establishment with profits exceeding Rs. 500,000/- in an accounting year under the Workers Welfare Fund Ordinance, 1971 residual of profits distributed under the company’s profit (Workers Participation) Act, 1968, and income from investments made by the Board/Fund
