Achievements
Labor Department has been successful in achieving various milestones a few of them are as under:
- Ensuring unprecedented industrial peace in the province, a pre-requisite for higher productivity
- Provincialization of labor laws in wake of the 18th constitutional amendment
- Free legal aid to workers entangled in debt bondage resulting in relief to more than 120 people resultantly contributed in improvement of Pakistan’s rating from Tier-2 Watch List to Tier-2 issued by the US State Department thus contributing in minimizing the threat of suspension of US and other international aid
- Contributed in development of National List of Hazardous Occupations in light of the ILO Convention-182 for addition to National Law on child labor
- Pioneered non-formal educational canters in the name of Community Education Centers (CEAs) for working children, the idea adopted by Pakistan Bailtul Maal
- Contributed in withdrawal of thousands of children from work for enrollment in National Centre’s for Rehabilitation of Child Laborers established by Pakistan and other non-formal education centers established by civil society organizations – NGOs all over the province
- Contributed in conceptualization of After-noon schools for working children, launched by Education Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa;
- Fixed minimum rates of wages for workers in the industrial and commercial establishments;
- Contributed in formulation of Labor and Inspection Policies
