Achievements

Labor Department has been successful in achieving various milestones a few of them are as under:

1. Ensuring unprecedented industrial peace in the province, a pre-requisite for higher productivity
2. Provincialization of labor laws in wake of the 18th constitutional amendment
3. Free legal aid to workers entangled in debt bondage resulting in relief to more than 120 people resultantly contributed in improvement of Pakistan’s rating from Tier-2 Watch List to Tier-2 issued by the US State Department thus contributing in minimizing the threat of suspension of US and other international aid
4. Contributed in development of National List of Hazardous Occupations in light of the ILO Convention-182 for addition to National Law on child labor
5. Pioneered non-formal educational canters in the name of Community Education Centers (CEAs) for working children, the idea adopted by Pakistan Bailtul Maal
6. Contributed in withdrawal of thousands of children from work for enrollment in National Centre’s for Rehabilitation of Child Laborers established by Pakistan and other non-formal education centers established by civil society organizations – NGOs all over the province
7. Contributed in conceptualization of After-noon schools for working children, launched by Education Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa;
8. Fixed minimum rates of wages for workers in the industrial and commercial establishments;
9. Contributed in formulation of Labor and Inspection Policies
